Joe Pavia Jr. had a driving accident on 6/27/16 in 12th race at Pocono Downs. The totter he was driving was on the front end and made a break just before the 1/4 pole as Joe attempted to take the horse off the course to the inside, as there was a horse outside of him, the horse jumped the pylon and lunged back toward the track. The horse behind his horse managed to miss him but the horse sitting 3rd hooked Joe’s outside wheel and catapulting him to the ground injuring his neck, hip and a slight concussion. After X-Rays and an MRI Joe was treated in the emergency room and released. After an examination the next day and test results gone over the doctor made a recommendation that Joe retire from driving due to the multiple concussions sustained in his racing career. Joe has 17 horses in training and he will now concentrate on training a public stable both in Pennsylvania and Florida.
